Been A While!!

-->
8/11/14

Been a while.  Time is passing by so quickly that I cannot keep track of contacting friends.

Have been doing a do-it-myself job on my condo.  What started out as an "assumed" easy project of replacing my living room carpet has turned into a "CANCER" project and taking forever and a day to complete.  Danny gave me a piece of beautiful carpet and pad that would cover my living room and hallway earlier this year.  That meant that all I needed to do was to pull up the current carpet and paint the walls prior to putting down the new carpet.  Ha!!!  I decided to get rid of the carpet in the bathroom also which I hated from the first time I bought this place--imagine, carpet in a bathroom.  Figured I would start on the smaller space first.

Piece of cake--sure!!  Underneath the carpet in the bathroom was linoleum--same as my upstairs bathroom--only this one had been cut around the edges to lay the carpet so

CANCER 1 was to remove the carpet, linoleum, scrape the glues, even out the floor and paint before I could lay new linoleum.  Looks good now.  See attachment!!

CANCER 2 was finding an 11 foot crack on my living room cement floor which had to be filled and smoother over first.  Lowe's guy told me how easy it would be.  I had to fill in the crack with sand almost to the top of the crack and then fill in with a cement paste.  Kept putting in the sand to where it was to be only to walk back in a few minutes later to find the sand had seeped all the way down to I don’t know where.  This kept happening for a couple of days.  Gave up on that and started filling in the crack with the cement paste and same this kept happening—aargh!!  I am now getting close to finishing the living room with washing and painting the walls, leveling the entry way, laying linoleum there and laying the carpet—so close yet seems so far away.

CANCER 3 is having all my furniture from the living room mostly in my family room/dining room area and the carpet in the walkway upstairs.  I am really hating being in a cramped space with carefully walking between pieces of furniture and no place to really put anything.  The real cancer will be having to shampoo this sad family room carpet.

I keep telling myself that I will look back and just laugh (which I have already done) and not just cry over it all.  Let’s face it, how many people have a toilet sitting in the living room when company comes.

The BEST news was Ann and Justin had a baby girl, Cora, on July 2--Number 24 grandchild.

Have had the chance to go camping and fishing this summer with my kids and their families.  Always enjoy being around them.  Fun to watch the little kids grow up.
